The Rowse Honey Company was established in 1954 by its founder, Mr Tony Rowse, in Ewelme Oxfordshire. The business quickly grew and he soon had over 1,000 hives, providing honey which was bottled at the Ewelme factory and helping fruit farmers to increase the pollination of their crops.

As consumer demand for honey increased, it exceeded the quantity of English honey available and during the 1960's, Rowse began importing honey from countries including Mexico and Australia, where climates are ideal for bee-keeping. With the increased availability of honeys from around the world, it was possible to offer the consumer a wide range of honeys, each with their own distinctive flavour and characteristics.
