Gut Week - Free Information Pack Bookmark and Share

Gut Week aims to raise the nation’s awareness of digestive health, and provide people with an opportunity to discuss gut issues. We hope to increase early detection to give the best opportunity for treatment.

This is particularly important, since new research reveals that only a quarter of the population think they would know how to self-diagnose a 'serious' gut disorder. However, 1 in 8 of all admissions, and 1 in 4 main operations in UK general hospitals are connected with the digestive tract, and so it is vital to take good care of it.

Good health begins on the inside. Our message is to look after your digestive system – eat a healthy diet and most importantly, don’t ignore symptoms. Even if you do feel embarrassed talking about “bodily functions” a nurse or a doctor won’t be - and will soon put a patient at ease.
